Sellassie Blackwell is devoted to creating changes in this world through his work as an independent hip-hop artist pioneer with an eye toward bringing independent artists together and as a seriously committed community activist intent on giving rise to social changes. His music is a vehicle for inspiration, and he is very clear that it is more important to him to be in the history books than the pop-charts. His rap contest has been said to be one of the most exciting live hip-hop shows in the country.
As serious as Sellassie is about changing the world through his protests, he is as serious about being the open-hearted loving man he is. To hear him talk about his mother is a lesson on love all its own. He is easy to approach, easy to talk to, and willing to open up on how he feels about a variety of personal topics. Once on the topic of love letters, well, I do not want to be a spoiler although it is my tendency, his life-changing letter to his family is solid gold!
